Do I need to setup my Directv box to accept commands over the network?
For the Directv box, enusre that the box is connected and cofigured for your home network and enable the service by navigating to the “External Device” settings screen (Menu->System Setup->Whole-Home->External Device) screen. Once on this screen select “Allow” for “External Access”.
I downloaded your remote app from the app store but it does not show anything after starting?
Most of our remote apps are menubar apps. These apps reside in the menubar located on the top of your mac screen next to the time. Simply click on the remote app icon and the main remote window will drop down. On the app page for each app on our site there is a video showing its use.
I really like automatic configuration but why does some of your remote apps support manual entry and some do not?
Some of our remotes access devices which utlize XML data files to traverse the various services they provide. In these cases it is simply not enough to know the network address of the device but the XML description file name and location as well. This description file name and location can change with the device’s firmware updates. The automatic discovery and configuration that our particular app uses is able to determine the necessary file information.
